FEBRUARY NEWSLETTER
The last newsletter was just to tell you about the visit from Kate of Ashford New Zealand and the 2 days she will be here with us in Yorkshire doing demonstrations. This one is to let you know what else we have happening.
Some of you may remember the rather lovely, lustrous Crab Apple blend which is back in stock just as the blossom is already hitting the trees. Adding to that, we have Pansy, luea rich blend of Shetland and Blue Faced Leicester in shades of orange and purple. Charlotte and I always enjoy spinning up the samples when we get new blends as it's amazing just how different they can be when spun. They can of course also be used in your wet and dry felt making.
Even more shades of dyed Shetland tops have been added which Charlotte tells me are the last (for now anyway, we are really enjoying them!). They would look even better blended with silk from our new mixed pack of Tussah Silk full of gentle shades, just pefect for spring. If you like to add a little sparkle to your work then the new shade of Spearmint coloured Angelina would also work well with spring projects.
Dare you go with a mystery fibre box? We have a few left of The Scream and Southern Alps if you like to be surprised. Charlotte comes up with the themes, the moodboards, including clues, sources the fibres and makes up all the batts.
Have you seen the new videos we have on our YouTube channel? How to build a sampleit loom, building an Ashford Traditional spinning wheel and the new double treadle Ashford Traveller 3. The traveller has an orange paint job which you can see on FaceBook or Instagram as Simon quickly runs over the differences between the old and new models. Our stock of Ashford items is always accurate on the website, so if we say we have it you can be assured we do.
There are still spaces on the drop spindle and wheel spinning workshops which will be led by me with Charlotte in assistance as she works up to running a few workshops of her own. What would you like to see us cover? I'm also busy felting leaves from our Merino wool for an exhibition with the regional International Feltmakers Association and you can see what I'm getting up to here.
