Well, the beginning of the month was very wet here but at least it's helped to fill up my new pond. I'm now waiting for the wildlife to discover it and planning things for the autumn. What have you been up to?

It seems very early to mention the C word as we haven't even been on holiday yet but the fibre advent calendar was so popular and well received last year that we've decided to repeat it. We will launch it on Monday 16th August and you can find out more here. It's plastic free and every sale supports 9 UK businesses. A quick question, would anyone be interested in a weaving advent calendar? Answers to this email please.

If you like natural colours or like doing your own dyeing then check out our natural laceweight Merino yarn. If you like sampling a variety of fibres and or dyeing them then take a look at our Andean striken mountain wool. Striken refers to mainly white wool which has black/brown fibre in it and produces lovely heathery effects if you dye it, I do love the non solid, single colour look. Andean is great for needlefelting. 3D wet felting and spinning.

We've sourced some raw (unwashed) Jacob fleece from a farm in Long Preston, Yorkshire. I've skirted it and removed any large pieces of vegetable matter but it's unwashed so you can process it yourself. Buying in 100g amounts allows you to process and sample it without being overwhelmed by a whole fleece. Jacob is one of the staple wools I work with as it's easy to spin, needle felts readily, is great for 3D wet felting work and is British.

All but one colour of the Brassard bamboo 8/2 yarn is now in stock, thank goodness, and we've had some Ashford deliveries too. There will be continuing interruption to deliveries this year with ongoing disruption from the pandemic but we're doing the best we can and where we're out of stock, Simon has added a button so you can request an email as soon as we receive more. It means you won't have to keep checking to see if it's in, we'll let you know.

A number of the autumn shows are currently planning to run:

Yarndale 25/26 September, Skipton - I'm teaching a learning to spin with a drop spindle on each day of the show and tickets should be available via the Yarndale website soon.
Bakewell Wool Gathering 9/10 October
Stitch Fest 6/7 November, Newton Abbot racecourse - I'm teaching drop spindle spinning again, details and tickets here

Take care, be nuts, have fun.
